You may notice my title has quotes around week. This week 4K is only 3 days, so today was our last instructional day of the week. Tomorrow is training, meetings, and planning!
A recap of my first three days includes a funny (well not funny at the time of realization) story from the first day. I read the birthday chart because my co-lead and I thought one of the kids' birthday was today. We wrote a card up and gave him a pencil, but he said it wasn't his birthday. We thought he was being bashful, but it turns out it really WASN'T his birthday. My co-lead sent an e-mail to his mother apologizing for the mix up. We did however get our card out to the kiddo who had a birthday the day before school, which was the source of why we thought it was someones birthday.
Another exciting part of the first "week" was my co-lead being on the radio the first and second day of school! They were discussing new teachers and how they felt on the first day and then followed up with how it went. It paid off for her to commute and listen to the radio. :)
A not so exciting thing is being told day 2 that tomorrow (day 3) that we're getting a new kid and it's a boy. 20 four year olds in our classroom for our morning session and it is STILL majority boys.
I'm truly enjoying getting to know all of my students so far and I can't wait to see them on Monday! Well, I may see some of them tomorrow if they are at the center for care on non 4K Fridays.
Here's to next week going much smoother and having a more specific game plan!
